PILAR

PIEDMONTESE LANGUAGE IN ARGENTINA

PILAR is a research project of the Department of Human Studies of the University of Turin, co-financed by SLE - Societas Linguistica Europaea.

It aims to document and describe the use of Piedmontese as a cultural heritage language in Argentina. On the one hand we want to study the evolution that Piedmontese brought by migrants at the end of the 19th century underwent, being developed in a sociolinguistic context different from the Italian one. On the other hand, we want to investigate the causes of its rooting in specific areas of Argentina, through the observation of the cultural practices in which Piedmontese is still present.
